01 — The Art of Cabinetry
From raw timber to the quiet centre of a home.
“A cabinet is the most touched object in a house. It should feel considered every single time.”
Yessica Diaz Ramos — Owner & Lead Designer
Elvex Services began in a small Palmdale workshop with a stubborn conviction: that the kitchen deserves the same rigor an architect gives a façade. Founder and lead designer Yessica Diaz Ramos built the studio around the slow disciplines — measuring twice, drawing by hand before drawing in software, and refusing to let a single reveal line fall out of alignment. What started as commissions for neighbors has become a practice trusted with the most demanding rooms in the Antelope Valley.
Every project is a transformation we take personally. Rough European oak arrives stacked and unremarkable; over weeks it is milled, conditioned, joined, and hand-finished until the grain reads like a signature. Yessica oversees this passage from raw board to polished masterpiece with an almost forensic attention to tolerance — door gaps measured to the millimeter, drawer faces flush to the touch, finishes built up in patient coats rather than rushed in one. Precision here is not vanity; it is what lets a kitchen still feel honest in twenty years.
Our team is small and deliberately so. We are craftsmen first and salespeople never — designers, joiners, and finishers who would rather decline a job than compromise the work. That philosophy shapes how we collaborate with clients: we listen for how a family actually lives, we curate materials instead of burying you in catalogs, and we treat the manufacturer selection as a design decision, not a line item. The result is cabinetry that belongs to the people who use it — quietly, durably, and beautifully.
02 — Our Methodology
Four deliberate movements from idea to installed.
01
Spatial Discovery & Layout
Every commission opens with a site visit, not a sales pitch. We measure the room to the millimeter, trace plumbing and electrical, and study how you actually move through the space — where light falls, where the family gathers, where the current kitchen quietly fails you. From this we draft a layout that resolves the awkward corners and dead zones before a single board is cut, balancing storage, sightlines, and the rhythm of daily use.
02
3D Architectural Design
Your layout becomes a fully rendered three-dimensional model — cabinet by cabinet, reveal by reveal. You see grain direction, hardware placement, and finish interplay long before fabrication begins. We iterate openly: move an island, change a door style, test two-tone schemes against your flooring and stone. Nothing is built until the drawing is something you can already picture living in.
03
Material Curation & Manufacturer Selection
We treat materials as the soul of the project. Rather than overwhelm you with sample books, we curate a focused palette of woods, laminates, and hardware suited to your design, climate, and budget — then we select the right manufacturing partner for each component. This is where our independence matters: unbound to any single supplier, we specify the finest plywood boxes, the right finish chemistry, and Blum mechanisms calibrated for a lifetime of use.
04
Precision Installation
Installation is where tolerance becomes visible. Our crew templates uneven walls, scribes to imperfect surfaces, and levels every run so doors close in silence and faces sit dead flush. We protect your floors, label every panel, and leave the site cleaner than we found it. The final walkthrough is exacting — we adjust, we inspect, and we don't consider the job done until the smallest detail is right.
03 — Materials & Hardware Alchemy
The substance beneath the surface.
A kitchen is only as honest as what it's made from. We choose every material for how it ages, performs, and feels — and we'll always tell you why it matters.
Solid & rift-sawn veneer01
European White Oak
Prized for its tight, linear grain and dimensional stability, white oak resists the cupping and movement that plague softer woods in dry desert air. We source rift-sawn cuts for the calmest, most consistent grain — the quiet luxury you feel before you can name it.
Nano-tech surface laminate02
Matte Fenix NTM
A super-matte, fingerprint-resistant surface engineered with nanotechnology. It absorbs light rather than reflecting it, self-heals minor scratches with heat, and shrugs off the heat and steam near a working range — ideal for hard-used lower cabinets that still need to look immaculate.
Austrian motion systems03
Blum Soft-Close Hardware
The mechanism you never think about is the one that defines daily life. Blum's TANDEM runners and CLIP top hinges carry full loads, glide without a sound, and close themselves gently every time — backed by a lifetime of cycles, not a season of novelty.
13-ply Baltic cabinet boxes04
Furniture-Grade Plywood
We build boxes from void-free multi-ply plywood, never particleboard. The result is a carcass that holds screws for decades, survives a flooded sink, and carries stone countertops without a whisper of sag — the unseen structure that makes everything above it last.
Penetrating, repairable05
Hand-Rubbed Oil Finishes
Where lacquer sits on top, our oil finishes live in the wood — deepening the grain, ageing gracefully, and remaining repairable in place. A scratch is wiped away, not refinished, so the kitchen stays beautiful through real life rather than in spite of it.
Curated pulls & inlays06
Solid Brass & Blackened Steel
Hardware is jewelry for a kitchen. We specify solid, unplated brass that develops a living patina and blackened steel that reads architectural — chosen and placed by hand so proportion and reach feel as good as they look.

“Yessica helped us figure out the weird corner space by our window. The walnut finish is incredible and the drawers still glide shut on their own months later.”
“The 3D renders were close to what we actually got, which surprised me. Usually that stuff looks nothing like real life.”
“I'm picky about wood grain and they let me look at the actual boards before cutting. Matched the panels really well.”
“Drive was a bit far for them but they never complained. Showed up when they said they would.”
“One drawer wasn't sitting right and they came back the next week to fix it, no argument.”
“We had a tight galley and they made the most of every inch. The spice pull-out is my favorite part.”
“Semi-custom would've been cheaper but the full custom fit our odd kitchen way better. No fillers everywhere.”
“Honestly the quote was higher than two others, but the others wanted to use thinner material. You get what you pay for.”
“Drawer organizers fit my weird collection of pans perfectly. They measured everything.”
“They steered us away from a trendy finish that would've dated fast. Glad we listened.”
“No relation to the owner, but she treated us like family anyway. Fixed a scuff we caused ourselves.”
“They labeled every box and panel during install so it went up like a puzzle. Organized crew.”
“Came in for a measure, sent a 3D a week later, and it just felt easy the whole way.”
“Quote held even after we added a wine cubby mid-project. They folded it in fairly.”
“Budget was tight so we phased it, lowers first then uppers. They were fine splitting it up.”
“The pantry organization she spec'd actually changed how I grocery shop. Everything has a spot.”
“Cabinets arrived a few days late from the shop but the install made up the time.”
“Pricing was clear up front, deposit, progress, final. No games at the end.”
“We had a leak mid-project and they paused, let us deal with it, then resumed. No pressure.”
“The walnut warms up under the lights at night. Wife noticed it before I did.”
“Hardware is all Blum and you can feel the difference when you open a drawer. Damped, smooth.”
“I sent her a blurry inspiration photo and somehow she turned it into a real plan.”
“The dovetail drawers are over-engineered in the best way. These will outlast the house.”
“Clean install, clear pricing, and the kitchen finally fits how our family actually moves through it.”
“Plywood boxes, soft-close, real wood fronts. Showed me a sample before I paid a dime.”

“Took a few weeks to nail down the layout, but the install itself was quiet and clean. They covered our floors better than the last contractor did.”
“Our old cabinets were falling apart. These feel solid, like you could stand on the shelves. Soft-close on everything.”
“Kitchen feels twice as big now and we didn't move a single wall. Just smarter cabinets.”
“The matte fronts hide fingerprints, which with three kids is the only reason my kitchen looks clean.”
“Loved that they curated the materials instead of dumping a catalog on us. Less overwhelming.”
“Yessica caught that our fridge door would hit the island and shifted the whole plan. Saved us a real headache.”
“I asked a hundred questions about finishes and she answered all of them without rushing me.”
“Matte Fenix on the lowers near the stove was their idea since it shrugs off heat marks. Smart.”
“The white oak warmed up our whole kitchen. It used to feel like a hospital in there.”
“Solid boxes, real wood fronts, and the toe-kick drawer is a little extra storage I didn't know I needed.”
“Clean lines, no visible hinges, and the panels match grain across the whole run. Detail nerd approved.”
“My old kitchen had three dead corners. Now there's a pull-out in each one. Real storage, not show.”
“One panel got dinged in transit and they swapped it without making it my problem. That's the test, right?”
“Yessica sketched the layout on our counter with painter's tape so we could feel the walkways. Helped a lot.”
“The matte black hardware against the white oak is exactly the contrast I was after.”
“Got three bids. Theirs explained the materials line by line so I knew what I was buying.”
“We wanted something quiet and not flashy and that's exactly what we got. Understated, well built.”
“Cerused oak fronts, brass pulls, and a stone backsplash she helped us pick. It all just works together.”
“The under-counter microwave drawer keeps the counters clear. Best decision she pushed for.”
“Budget conversation up front saved us. They showed where to spend and where not to.”
“We did a small galley and she made it feel intentional, not cramped. Full-height storage helped.”
“Long-time Palmdale folks and it's nice supporting a local maker who actually answers the phone.”
“Layout discovery visit was no-pressure. She measured, asked how we live, then left us to think.”
“She talked us out of an island that was too big for the space. Appreciated the honesty over the sale.”
“The whole process took a couple months start to finish, mostly our indecision. Result was worth it.”

“I changed my mind on the handles like three times and nobody made me feel bad about it. Ended up with brushed brass and it was the right call.”
“She noticed our ceiling wasn't level and adjusted the uppers so the gap doesn't show. Small thing but it bugged me for years.”
“Blum hinges, real plywood boxes, none of that particle board. You can tell where the money went.”
“We wanted a pantry that hid the microwave and they figured out a pocket door situation. Genius.”
“The cerused oak is exactly the texture I wanted. I'd seen it in magazines and figured we couldn't afford it.”
“Took our deposit, kept us posted, delivered. Simple as that. No drama.”
“Cabinets came in slightly ahead of schedule for once. The hardware feels heavy in a good way.”
“She listened more than she talked, which I appreciated. The plan felt like ours, not a template.”
“Took a deposit and a few weeks of back and forth on the 3D, then it moved fast. Patient with our edits.”
“Yessica's eye for proportion is the thing. The upper cabinets line up with the window in a way that just feels right.”
“We did a two-tone, charcoal lowers and oak uppers. She mocked it up before we committed.”
“Didn't try to upsell me on stuff I didn't need. Talked me out of glass fronts actually.”
“We have a long narrow kitchen and they used full-height pantry runs instead of wasting it on short uppers.”
“Honestly forgot how loud old drawers were until these. Whole kitchen is quieter now.”
“Crew wore booties in the house without being asked. Little stuff, but it adds up.”
“Island overhang is sized right for our stools, which nobody else bothered to ask about.”
“She remembered details from our first meeting weeks later. Felt like she actually cared about our kitchen.”
“I build furniture as a hobby so I inspect joints. These hold up. Tight, square, clean.”
“Quiet install, swept up daily, hauled away the old cabinets. Didn't expect that last part.”
“She caught a plumbing conflict in the 3D phase that would've been a nightmare later.”
“One handle was crooked at first and they came back same week. Quick on the small stuff.”
“Took a deposit, gave a timeline, and stuck to it within a few days. That's rare.”
“Slight delay on a backordered finish but they kept me in the loop the whole time.”
“Matte fronts, brass pulls, walnut island. Took our time deciding and they never rushed us.”
“Yessica figured out the weird soffit above our sink and made it look intentional. Still impressed.”

“Communication was a little slow during the holidays, then it picked right back up. Worth the wait.”
“Yessica drew up two layouts and walked us through why one worked better for how we actually cook. We picked hers.”
“Pricing was fair and they didn't hit us with surprise charges at the end. The estimate was the estimate.”
“Install took two days, not the week I braced for. Crew was tidy and actually swept up after.”
“The black walnut island is the first thing everyone touches when they walk in. Smooth as glass.”
“They reused our existing layout but swapped everything to soft-close and added under-cabinet lighting. Big difference.”
“Small hiccup with a backordered handle but they offered a loaner set so we weren't living without pulls.”
“I work from home and the install crew was respectful of that. Kept the noise reasonable.”
“Fair warning, the custom route isn't quick. But the corner lazy-susan alone was worth the wait.”
“Install was seamless once the cabinets arrived. The lead time was the longest part, just plan for it.”
“The walnut veneer on the island has this ribbon grain that catches the light. People assume it cost double.”
“The soft-close still works on the trash pull-out, which my last cabinets gave up on in a year.”
“Real plywood, dovetail drawers, and they showed me the joints before install. Nothing hidden.”
“Took longer than we hoped on the design phase because we kept tweaking. That was on us, not them.”
“Finish on the lowers wipes clean with a damp cloth. With a toddler that's everything.”
“The corner cabinet has a swing-out that reaches the very back. No more crawling in there.”
“Took the time to template our uneven wall before building so nothing's scribed badly.”
“Custom meant we could do 33-inch drawers for big pots. Nothing off the shelf fit those.”
“Solid wood, no flat-pack nonsense. Took a couple weeks longer than a box store but it shows.”
“The matte finish near the stove still looks new after a year of heavy cooking.”
“White oak with a soap finish, very natural. She explained the upkeep honestly, didn't sugarcoat it.”
“Corner pantry with rotating shelves was her suggestion. Use it every single day now.”
“Old kitchen was builder-grade junk. This feels like it belongs in the house now.”
“Did our laundry-room cabinets after the kitchen since we trusted them by then. Same care, smaller room.”
